The Australian Institute of Employment Rights is delighted to announce the appointment of Renee Burns to the role of Executive Director.

Renee has a background working in human resources and industrial relations for local government and private sector employers and is currently undertaking a Masters in Employment and Labour Relations Law through the University of Melbourne Law School.

She has developed a substantial knowledge of Australian workplace relations law, policy and current workplace issues and is committed to fostering and promoting the values, rights and principles promoted by the AIER.

She firmly believes that workplace relations laws must provide a framework for balanced and genuine bargaining and cooperation with fair minimum standards providing quality employment.

Background

Renee Burns replaces Clare Ozich, who resigned in January 2018 to pursue other interests, after three and a half years in the role.

The AIER is an independent think tank on workplace rights, influencing practices and policy through research papers, advocacy and debate, as well as through its internationally recognised framework for workplace practices: the Australian Charter of Employment Rights and the Australian Standard of Employment Rights.
